Film Writing Fundamentals

  • Facebook

If you are seeking the fundamental skills and experience to write a screenplay then Scriptology Brighton is the right place for you.

The short film is widely regarded as harder to write than the feature film and that is why shorts are still the proving ground for aspiring screenwriters.

This course then focusses on understanding and writing the short film.

Shorts demand a real command of story, creativity and economy.

Learning the discipline of telling a great story in 10 pages or less will equip you

with a grasp of narrative,

structure, scene-craft and compelling character arcs that will stand you in good stead should you wish to move on to longer screenplay forms.

Sessions will include exercises for developing the premise, theme, and story proposition,

thinking and writing visually, how to create compelling characters and how to map the audiences emotional and intellectual journey through your screenplay.

You will have the opportunity to hear your script read by actors at the end of the course, at a rehearsed reading

this is an incredibly useful tool for further developing your screenplay, and should you wish to re-draft your screenplay after the end of the course your tutor will happily provide a further set of feedback notes up to 1 month after the end of the course at no extra cost.
